Garde Hotels features a collection of two unique boutique hotels in the heart of Groningen. Hotel Corps de Garde and Hotel Halbert are just a stone’s throw from each other, but each has its own story, atmosphere, and character. What they share is the way you’re welcomed there—with a focus on the moment, an eye for detail, and a genuine love for the city.

    Café 1634 is located on the ground floor of Hotel Corps de Garde. Every dish on the menu is vegetarian by default, and we also have a separate menu featuring dishes that do contain meat or fish. Not because vegetables take center stage here—that remains the domain of Souterrain 1634—but because good food is our top priority. For everyone.

  • Garde Hotels is a unique collection of hotels and restaurants, each with its own story to tell. What unites us is a shared philosophy: creating meaningful moments and giving true value to time.

  • Both hotels are located in the center of Groningen. Hotel Corps de Garde is situated on the corner of Oude Boteringestraat, just a 5-min walk from the Grote Markt. Hotel Halbert is located on Oude Boteringestraat, one of the most beautiful streets in the city center. Both locations are easily accessible by public transport and within walking distance of the best attractions Groningen has to offer.

  • Absolutely. Garde Hotels has two in-house restaurant concepts, each with its own unique character.

    Restaurant Blumé, located next to Hotel Halbert, is Garde Hotels’ fine-dining restaurant. Seasonal, refined, and warm all at once. Here, you can take your time and enjoy an evening you’ll never forget.

    Souterrain 1634 is located in the historic basement of Hotel Corps de Garde. It’s an intimate setting where vegetables take center stage and the menu is dictated by the season. Fish and meat are available as side dishes, but the vegetables steal the show. It’s a place to slow down and truly savor the flavors.

    Het Wachthuis, located in Hotel Corps de Garde, is the place to go for breakfast, lunch, and a nice drink. It’s welcoming, inviting, and just the spot to take a breather right in the heart of the city.

  • You can make a reservation directly through the Hotel Corps de Garde or Hotel Halbert website. That way, you can be sure you're getting the best price and booking directly with us.

  • Absolutely. Garde Hotels offers space for meetings, workshops, and business stays in a setting that has more to offer than a standard conference hotel. Please contact us to discuss the options.

  • Absolutely. The hotels and restaurants are perfect venues for an anniversary, birthday, company get-together, or any other special occasion. Please contact us to discuss the options.

  • The hotels and restaurants do not have their own parking spaces. The Ossenmarkt parking garage is located just 100 meters from the hotel and offers discounted rates for online reservations (€18 instead of €26). The Boterdiep parking garage, 450 meters away, is also a good option, with a rate of €15 for 24 hours. Are you traveling by bike? You can park it safely in the hotel’s courtyard.

  • Yes, children are very welcome. Family rooms are available at Hotel Halbert. When you make your reservation, please let us know what you need, and we'll see what we can arrange for you.

  • Yes, you can purchase a gift certificate for all Garde Hotels properties and restaurants. It’s a wonderful way to surprise someone with a stay in Groningen, dinner at Blumé, or simply some time to themselves. Send an email to info@gardehotels.nl and we’ll take care of it for you.
