About Garde Hotels

Garde Hotels is a collection of unique venues in Groningen, each with its own story. It all started with an idea: time and genuine attention are the most valuable things there are. That idea grew into Hotel Corps de Garde, a centuries-old building with a rich history, and later into Hotel Halbert, featuring the on-site Restaurant Blumé and the vegetable-focused restaurant Souterrain 1634 at Hotel Corps de Garde.

We bring these places together under one name, united by a shared belief: adding value to time. By making room for what really matters—for our guests and for each other.

Because that attention starts with our team. We take care of our colleagues with the same dedication we show our guests, giving them room to grow and learn the trade.     Independent Chef | Souterrain 1634

    Just below the streets of downtown Groningen, you’ll find Souterrain 1634 at Hotel Corps de Garde, where our guests can relax next to the exposed old city wall dating from 1634. This isn’t a place for a quick bite to eat; here, you take your time.

    We are looking for an ambitious, independent chef for the kitchen at Souterrain 1634. Someone who can work independently, is eager to learn and grow, and feels at home in Souterrain’s unique atmosphere.

  • Dishwasher | Blumé Restaurant

    As a dishwasher, you’re the backbone of the kitchen. You make sure everything gets washed properly and quickly, so the kitchen never runs out of pans, and clean dishes and silverware are always ready for the guests. You’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves and you like to take the initiative. Everything is spick and span when you’re in the dishwashing area.
